Nonprofit in Training: BeCompelled

Be Compelled mentors at risk boys and girls on the Westside of Atlanta, using a vehicle of sports. Their volunteer mentors (mostly college students from nearby universities) work with the students to develop through personal and athletic achievement. Over 850 kids are being served by programs in flag football, lacrosse, soccer and self-defense.

Chris Miller, Executive Director, shared these thoughts about the LEAD program: “The one page ministry summary has been invaluable. It really helped me condense my language, and it is so transferrable to other activities. I’ve also appreciated the training in websites, budgeting, fundraising, and board development.”

“Beyond the specific materials, I have really enjoyed the cross-pollination between the people in class, including the coaches. I’ve developed partnerships with some class members, and it’s just great to be somewhere where you are with people who care about your success” adds Chris.

“My coaching experience has been great. Bob does a wonderful job of sharing his years of experience. He’s not just a coach, but he’s an advisor and partner. I’ve appreciated his abilities to shape my messaging, he cares as much about my organization as I do.”
