Nonprofit in Training: The Automotive Training Center
The Automotive Training Center teaches at risk youth automotive skills and life skills. Larry Witherspoon, Executive Director, explains "Our end goal is to provide skills that result in employment. This has been found to be the number one factor in people not returning to jail, or going there in the first place."
Larry found the LEAD Institute through a referral by a donor.
"LEAD has been great, it has opened my eyes to the finer points of what successful organizations need to do. I've particularly learned about board governance, and fundraising. The two page ministry program description has been useful in many ways beyond just fundraising, I've even used it to explain my program to the City of Atlanta. It's a way to clearly communicate who we are and what we do," says Larry.
He adds, "My coaching experience has been really good. Bob has helped me with my fundraising presentation and my two pager. He is very engaged and enthusiastic. He believes in what we are doing and is very supportive."
